Demonstrating a real passion and deep interest in financial markets and the financial services industry, our Consultants are responsible for the development of insights and quality output on projects, building client relationships and contributing to strategic consulting assignments.

As a Strategy Consultant at NMG, you will work on a variety of assignments that reflect the range of services we provide. Responsibilities include building financial models and undertaking financial analysis including business cases and valuations, in addition to leveraging NMG’s proprietary insights and research to generate analysis.

The broad range of projects covered demands high-level skills in research and analysis along with exceptional client liaison abilities. Working within a small consulting team, you will draw on the collective expertise and resources within the other divisions within the NMG Group in order to fully exploit our “information advantage” and improve the quality and clarity of client decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing financial analysis to clients for business strategy formulation and transformation plans based on market intelligence

  • Building financial models and preparation analysis including business cases and valuations; Establishing analytical frameworks and conducting complex business analyses

  • Conducting external research, data gathering and analysing qualitative or quantitative data using a variety of methods and models; Undertaking client liaison and relationship management

  • Building strong relationships with other divisions of NMG to leverage specific areas of knowledge and expertise, in order to generate analysis for presentations; Mentoring and guiding other consultants and analysts within the team (Senior Consultant)

  • Identifying opportunities for new business and developing appropriate strategies accordingly; Utilising the collective expertise and resources across all divisions of the NMG Group in order to fully exploit our “information advantage” and improve the quality of our client offering

  • Projects will include: a) Identification of New Markets; b) Improving Business Performance; c) Optimising Portfolio Management; and d) Executing Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances

Competencies, Qualifications & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification, additional qualifications or honours valued; with more than two years' experience (Consultant) and at least five years' experience (Senior Consultant) in Financial Services, preferably within insurance, reinsurance or wealth management; prior experience in consulting roles is strongly preferred

  • Exceptional quantitative abilities, business modelling and analytical skills; excellent attention to detail and high quality standards; excellent written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and organise work flows clearly and liaising with global teams; strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with clients and present clear arguments

  • A strategic and creative thinker who is highly self-motivated, capable of independent and team work; high level of enthusiasm for the industry, a positive attitude, energetic approach, curiosity and willingness to learn

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in SQL as well as database management are added advantages; curious, flexible and learning-oriented
