Summary Statement

We are continually seeking to evolve and expand NMG Consulting’s suite of Insights Studies globally and in Australia. Following a decision to expand our Australian-based team, the newly-created Principal Consultant role will be responsible for design, implementation and ongoing development of Australian insurance and wealth management insights propositions and will have a global mandate to drive continual improvement in our Insights programmes. The objective is to deliver high-quality, timely and impactful insights to our insurer and wealth management clients and bring about innovations across our insights programmes globally.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing insightful analysis, strengthening client relationships at the senior executive level, contributing to strategic consulting assignments and driving the vision necessary for developing our offering in the Australian market. Further, the role will include close collaboration with global colleagues, sharing, leveraging and implementing global ideas and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading insights / research engagements across insurance and wealth management; ensuring project objectives benefit broader client strategy across the Consulting business

  • Closely collaborating with colleagues in the UK, North America and South African markets to ensure innovations and best practice are shared globally, as well as taking ownership of key global initiatives

  • Project managing and presenting to clients on NMG’s insights studies; building and maintaining relationships with clients based in Australia and undertaking business development in conjunction with other Partners and Principal Consultants to ensure ongoing business growth

  • Actively contributing to the shaping of NMG Consulting’s long-term strategy for global insights

  • Providing guidance, coaching and mentoring to a team of direct reports as required to ensure their ongoing progression and development

Competencies, Qualifications & Experience

  • In-depth knowledge and over 8 years-experience within the Financial Services sectors, specifically within either life insurance, asset management or reinsurance, and ideally over 3 years’ experience in a consulting or primary research environment

  • Tertiary qualification with excellent academics; a commercial understanding and drive to innovate; proven analytical skills, the ability to draw insight from complex data sets, excellent attention to detail and high-quality standards

  • An ability to develop relationships with clients and influence the thinking of key decision makers, making strategic contributions and leading presentations; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with a senior audience

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities, empowering, mentoring and developing colleagues that you work with; ability to work effectively with a matrixed and global team of consultants
