Project Manager – Toronto

This role is responsible for supporting business operations in NMG’s Global Insights and technology practices. As well as enhancing overall discipline and rigour in resource allocation, timelines and business engagement, a key focus will be placed on driving improvements to operational systems, processes and procedures and the generation of efficiencies, increased productivity and adoption of Agile/ SCRUM methodology.

Summary Statement

The role will largely focus on managing multiple annual research programmes and innovation projects. Excellent stakeholder communication is key, along with the ability to working closely across multiple functions (IT, human capital, marketing,), forging strong partnerships with business heads and supporting the Global Insights and Technology teams to meet and exceed strategic business requirements and expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Overseeing multiple research programmes with varying dynamics and complexities, managing delivery within a defined scope, quality and schedule. Providing internal project oversight, leadership, and stakeholder and vendor relationship management. Managing resources, timelines, and project scoping. Monitoring and reporting on all aspects of these projects including progress, forecasted hours, risks, communications and critical issues. Providing tracking metrics of internal project performance, progressing these to senior stakeholders. Facilitating the adoption of Agile approach and regular SCRUM meetings

  • Business Improvement: Applying a continuous improvement and innovative mindset to all that you do, ensuring that both incremental and large-scale improvement and efficiency opportunities are surfaced, discussed and where appropriate, implemented. Maintaining a strong business understanding of NMG and how to improve the ability of NMG to deliver services to its clients. Specifically, driving ongoing improvements to resource allocation, information flow and management (EDI transmission & data integrity), business process and procedures. Presenting to the Global Insights head and broader business on strategic goals, progress and metrics of projects under your remit

  • Operational support and excellence: Providing consulting, training and partnering on matters related to business processes, documentation. Contributing to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy. Driving initiatives in the team and organisationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence

Competencies, Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5+ years professional experience, ideally within a management consulting, research or "Big 5" consulting organisation. University degree ideally with some programming, analytics or statistical background. Strong analytical as well as organizational skills with an ability to manage conflicting demands.   • Experience in managing projects using agile methodology such as scrum and Kanban. Experience in managing stakeholders and interacting with senior level executives in a professional services firm in an international and complex environment. The ability to get on with all levels of people and be a good influencer

  • Highly structured and process oriented with a track record of delivering projects on-time and within budget. Demonstrated experience of successfully setting up, managing and delivering multiple projects with a technology and process improvement element

  • Able to write credible documentation and communicate effectively. Familiar with change management and risk mitigation practice and strategies. Has a technical appreciation and is "hands on", would thrive in a lean organization

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (PowerBI, PowerApps), Azure DevOps and SQL, a plus. Some familiarity with formal project management tools (e.g. MS-Project, Visio, Smartsheets, JIRA, etc.) a plus
